A total of 155 foreign migrants staying in a safe house were located and rescued by federal immigration officials and elements of National Migration Institute Beta Groups (INM), who moved to Paredón Bay in the municipality of Tonalá, Chiapas.
These are citizens from China, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guinea, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Senegal who could not prove regular residence on Mexican territory.
When the migrant women, adult men and minors entered the property where they were hidden (in the Bay of Paredón), they wore colored plastic bracelets and were on blankets, oilcloth and cardboard, as well as backpacks and bags with clothing and food.
39 people from different family groups were identified: 13 of them originally from Cuba; 12 from Ecuador; six from Honduras; four from Nicaragua; three from the Dominican Republic and one from Guinea.
In addition, 116 adults were from the Dominican Republic (28), Cuba (26), China (21), Ecuador (16), Senegal (8), Guinea (6), Honduras (5), Nicaragua (3), El Salvador (2) and Costa Rica (1).
In order to verify their health status and initiate the appropriate administrative procedure, the family units will be under the care and supervision of shelters of the National System for Comprehensive Family Development (DIF) of the State and the adults will be accommodated in the facilities of the INM, where their immigration administrative procedure will be carried out becomes.
