(CNN) – At least five people have been taken to a hospital after a shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District, a city official said while police investigated the incident.
The shooting happened just after 9:00 p.m. Pacific time at 24th Street and Treat Avenue, police told CNN.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they found several victims with gunshot wounds,” the department said in a statement. “Officials called paramedics to the scene of the accident to treat the victims and transport them to local hospitals.”
Santiago Lerma, a legislative assistant to Hillary Ronen, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, told CNN affiliate KPIX that five people were taken to Zuckerberg General Hospital in San Francisco. One is currently undergoing surgery and the remainder are being treated for minor injuries.
