The National Institute for Migration (INM) of Mexico intercepted several hundred migrants in the last few hours, according to official sources from that country.
In two different operations carried out in Puebla, they were placed under the protection of the immigration authorities. 688 migrants from various Central American and Caribbean countries. According to the INM itself, 150 of those rescued were minors.
The initial identification and rescue operation was conducted at a hotel on the Puebla-Santa Ana Chiautempan Federal Highway where they were located Breakthe 567 migrants in a mobility situation.
Of these, 3 came from Ecuador, cuban 14, 35 from El Salvador, 40 from Honduras and 475 from Guatemala. In this first group we identified 110 minors.
In addition, five people should have been arrested if possible responsible for the illegal trade these migrants. The hotel where they were found was secured, and the same was done with the vehicles used for illegal transportation.
The second operation took place on a bus on the Orizaba-Puebla highway near San Bartolomé Hueyapan.
The vehicle has been transported 121 peopleincluding one from Cuba, two from El Salvador, 40 from Nicaragua, and 78 equally from Honduras and Guatemala; 40 of the rescued migrants were minors.
According to the INM statement The minors rescued in both operations were placed in the care of the Integral Family Development Systemtogether with the relatives or legal guardians accompanying them.
For their part, the adults were taken to the facilities of the INM in order to continue the relevant administrative migration process from there.
From 2021 to today, the passage of migrants through Mexico has increased. According to official statistics, not until 2021 More than 307,000 migrants have been arrested in identification and rescue operations.
