end of an era

The Voice of BrazilThe Voice of Brazil

Globo is currently showing the 12th season of The Voice Brasil. The attraction, currently managed by Fátima Bernardes, is already on its way out as the current season will be its last. The program, which had good ratings in the past and always grossed well, ended up losing steam due to the wear and tear of the formula.

The announced end of The Voice Brasil also extends to the children's version of the talent show. The Voice Kids, which aired on Sunday afternoons, will also no longer air next year. In other words, it's the end of The Voice era on Globo, which lasted 12 years.

But despite the end of the attraction, Globo did not give up holding a music competition. For 2024, the station plans to introduce an unprecedented format that combines music and lockdown. In other words, a kind of “musical BBB”. The proposal is reminiscent of the extinct Fama, which was shown on the channel between 2002 and 2005.

Changes on Sundays

Globo has also suspended two Sunday attractions. “Minha Mãe Cozinha Melhor que a Sua”, with which Paola Carosella debuted on the channel, will not go beyond the first season, which aired in the first months of 2023.

Another Sunday program that is coming to an end is Pipoca da Ivete. The attraction had two seasons, but neither said what it was. In fact, Ivete Sangalo is struggling to compete with Celso Portiolli's Domingo Legal, an SBT attraction. Therefore, the show will not be broadcast again in 2024.

With the cancellations of The Voice Kids, Minha Mãe Cozinha Melhor que a Sua and Pipoca da Ivete, Globo will have a different Sunday next year. The idea is to split Domingão with Huck in two parts one before and one after football thus increasing Luciano Huck's place in the starting lineup.

Show row cancellations

Another change at Globo concerns the channel's program offerings. No Limite, which the channel revived between 2021 and 2023, was canceled again. And this time forever.

The program was “revived” in 2021 to try to increase BBB’s popularity. However, the adventure competition did not delight the audience and received low ratings. In 2023, the attraction was reformulated with Boninho leaving the management. The program improved, but the audience fell short of expectations.

In light of the fiasco, Globo did not renew its contract with Endemol to continue producing the Brazilian version of Survivor. As a result, the program led by Fernando Fernandes was finally canceled.

In addition to No Limite, another program in the Globo program will not be returning next year. This is the Cine Holliúdy series that had three seasons. The broadcaster felt that the production had lost momentum and was no longer producing the same impact as when it started, and so decided to permanently shut it down.
