Shirlene Hernandez, 72, was attacked by a thief trying to take her car PLAY/WBRC
Shirlene Hernandez, 72, stopped at a gas station in San Antonio, Texas yesterday Tuesday (19) to buy a soda, which she usually does every day. As she walked towards the supermarket, she was approached by a man who held her and slapped her face several times until he managed to get the car keys. The information was released by the WBRC website.
Three other people who were at the scene noticed what had happened and tried to help the elderly woman and prevent the robbery, but the thief was able to drive away.
The police were called and the search for the vehicle began. Not far from the scene of the crime, on a freeway, Shirlene’s car was located with the front end destroyed, presumably from a violent impact, and with the dead bandit at the wheel.
The American had major bruises on her face, particularly around one eye, and she even lost the transportation she had taken to work.
The story had a high impact and online crowdfunding was organized to help purchase a new model and have the damage replaced. The goal was $5,000, about R$23,000, but in just four days, $29,000 had already been raised, equal to R$134,000.
