Things are not looking good for Andrei Svechnikov

Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov is unlucky.

After missing the end of the season and the entire series in 2022-2023, the 23-year-old Russian is now back on the sidelines. On Tuesday, head coach Rod Brind'Amour indicated at a press conference that his skater would be out for “quite a while.”

The forward underwent an MRI scan in Ottawa on Monday as his teammates prepared for Tuesday night's clash against the Senators.

“He’s being kept away,” Brind’Amour said. Probably for a while. It is certain that it will not be so quickly.”

Svechnikov has an upper-body injury and has already missed the Canes' last two games. Last year, a torn anterior cruciate ligament forced him to stop playing hockey.

In 16 games in 2023-2024, the second player selected in the 2018 draft scored one goal and had 10 assists for 11 points.
