Some interesting developments have emerged from the divorce drama between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian over the past year. Many of these directly relate to West, who has filed co-parenting claims against Kardashian and even declared “civil war” on her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. One of the most surprising developments, however, happened last December when it was reported that West had bought a house across the street from his ex. But now, months later, the rapper’s plans seem to have taken a turn.
It feels like Kanye West is always making things happen, but reportedly he hasn’t been all that active when it comes to the Hidden Hills home he bought in late 2021. TMZ reports that West was aiming for massive renovations to his suburban home. However, after reviewing the construction records for the area, the news agency can’t find any permits that the musician or his construction team obtained to carry out the requested work. The site also spoke to neighbors who claim the property has been quiet lately.
Back in December, sources claimed Ye decided to buy the house to be closer to his four children. It’s also worth noting that he was also trying to reconcile with his ex-wife, the reality TV star, at the time. The move reportedly drew a little attention from the Kardashian-Jenner family, as well as some honest thoughts from Shaquille O’Neal.
Things have changed since then, as the “Eazy” rapper has seemingly stopped reaching out to Kim Kardashian. Reports also claimed that the star took action to end his social media feud with Kardashian and Pete Davidson. According to the latest rumors, Ye is aiming to seek help at a treatment center. This should all be taken with a grain of salt at this point, but given all of these reported developments, it would make sense as to why there hasn’t appeared to be any movement when it comes to his Hidden Hills home.

As for his beach house in Malibu, that’s another story. Last September, Kanye West bought this property for $58.3 million (yes, you read that right). The 4,000-square-foot home was designed by architect Tadao Ando, whom West has apparently admired for some time. TMZ reports that the entertainer is hard at work on renovations for this home. This might lend credence to the idea that he’s decided to make it his primary California home.
Kim Kardashian has also attempted to work on the Hidden Hills home she and her ex used to share, despite some legal obstacles. One of her neighbors filed a lawsuit against her in September 2021, alleging that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum wanted to build some sort of underground vault on the site. Sources claimed that while she planned to build something, it wasn’t a vault. The same neighbor filed another lawsuit against the star months later when she tried to build a special driveway.
Who knew there would be so much construction drama surrounding the Kardashian-Jenner clan. There’s no telling how much of this will be chronicled in her new series, The Kardashians. However, based on the first trailer, Kanye West will be a topic of discussion, and it wouldn’t be too surprising if his decision to buy this house in his wife’s neighborhood is mentioned at some point.
