Third link: a “difficult” but “responsible” decision, says Guilbault

Abandoning the promise of a third highway link between Quebec and Lévis was a “difficult” but “responsible” decision, according to Geneviève Guilbault.

She said this on Wednesday morning to justify the government’s decision to scrap vehicles entirely from its tunnel project to leave all the space for public transport.

“I just want to tell you that in the third link file we had to make a very difficult decision, which, however, in our opinion, is a responsible decision, and that we are first and foremost a pragmatic government,” he said – she argued visibly affected, during a brief press throng in the corridors of Parliament.

She also reminded that there will be an announcement tomorrow where she will share “all the details” about the new version of the project.

The latest version of the third link will only contain a tube for public transport. The route, still city center to city center, has yet to be determined. Various scenarios are considered, which means going back to the drawing board again.
