Claude Villeneuve believes that in the third link file, Quebec Mayor Bruno Marchand took a step back so as not to alienate François Legault’s government.

“I think the mayor presented the content of his thoughts on Saturday, and I get the impression that he wanted to reshape the next day a little bit, so as not to displease the government, so as not to embarrass the government,” the reiterated Leader of the opposition at Quebec City Hall.
Mr. Villeneuve finds it difficult to understand the mayor’s move and is amazed at the benefit of the foreign assignment when the government ultimately dictates the game.
“I don’t know if there were any communications between the two continents,” he said, half-jokingly, referring to the possibility Mr Marchand received a call from the CAQ after his position on Saturday.

The opposition leader is convinced that the mayor is walking on eggshells every time he talks about the third link.

Claude Villeneuve, who opposes the Third Link project put forward by the CAQ, notes that the government is also starting to back down.
“The project as it stands doesn’t make good sense and I think the government is starting to see that. It is unrealistic and not responsible in the current context,” he concludes.
