This former CH player sets a KHL record

Former Montreal Canadiens forward Jordan Weal failed to establish himself in the National League and has now broken a record in the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

The 31-year-old athlete, who made the jump to Russia between 2021 and 2022, made the history of the circuit by having the most productive season among hockey players from Canada in the history of the KHL.

In 2023-2024, the man in Dynamo Moscow colors found the net 28 times and provided 45 assists for 73 points in 64 games.

The previous mark for a Canadian player belonged to forward Nigel Dawes, who scored 69 points with Yekaterinburg Automobilist in 2018-19.

Weal's 73 points represent the 13th highest total points accumulated by a skater – regardless of nationality – in KHL history.

The Vancouver native spent the entire 2020-2021 season with the Laval Rocket, CH's farm club in the American League. He had previously played 65 games for Bleu-Blanc-Rouge in two seasons.

Weal also played for the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and Arizona Coyotes on the Bettman circuit. In 218 career games in the National League, he scored 32 goals and 37 assists for 69 points.
