Are you tired of those inaudible phone conversations with mediocre, muffled and loud sound? However, simply activate a free option included in your package to enjoy high quality sound…
Would you like to make calls with your smartphone in the 21st century? For several years now, telecom operators have been offering an option that allows you to enjoy high definition quality sound during your conversations. Goodbye parasites and other bells and whistles that interfere with the good understanding of the interlocutors. They rely on two established technologies: VoLTE and VoWifi. Behind these acronyms lie two channels through which the voice spreads.
The first, VoLTE (for Voice over the LTE network), is nothing more than the 4G network provided by operators. The classic 2G or 3G network is therefore not used when making mobile phone calls. The second device, VoWifi, uses the same principle, but this time the calls are made over the WiFi network to which the mobile phone is connected, for example at home or in a hotel or restaurant. In both cases, voice is quickly converted into data packets for transmission over the Internet.
Both VoLTE and VoWifi only have advantages. Firstly, the audio quality of calls is much higher than calls over the standard network. The sound is clear and without interruptions or interference, whether you use the smartphone speaker and microphone or a wired or wireless headset. Then, in contrast to conventional calls, with a VoLTE or VoWIfi call the Internet connection is not lost during the conversation. This means you can use your smartphone to search for information on the Internet and at the same time stay in touch with the person you are talking to. Practical.
The good news is that it is not necessary to subscribe to a paid option to benefit from VoLTE and VoWifi. If your cell phone plan includes a data envelope for the Internet connection, chances are good that you can benefit from HD phone calls at no additional cost. Simply check in your personal area whether the option is active with your network provider. This is the case by default with Orange, Bouygues Telecom, SFR. With Free you have to send a special code to activate it on your connection. And with MVNOs (virtual operators such as Auchan Telecom, NRJ Mobile, La Poste Mobile, Prixtel, Réglo Mobile, etc.) you often have to call customer service to take advantage of it when they offer it.
Please note that calls via VoLTE or VoWifi do not charge your mobile data plan. They are classic calls. Then you also need to use a compatible smartphone and benefit from 4G or WiFi coverage. The vast majority of current cell phones are. Finally, it is necessary to check on the mobile whether the option is activated in the settings (read our practical leaflet). And to ensure that calls go over VoLTE, there is nothing easier. Turn off your cell phone's Wi-Fi and make a call. If the 4G or LTE icon still appears, it's OK.
To take full advantage of high-definition voice quality during a call, the person you are talking to must also have VoLTE or VoWifi. Otherwise, the sound will automatically default to the lowest quality. Even if the connection to the 4G network is lost during the call, the call will not be interrupted. The mobile phone switches to 2G or 3G network automatically and without interruption and returns to normal quality. And you will immediately notice the difference in quality!
