In 2020, Elías Navarro rose to fame with a video posted on TikTok in which he walked into an Oxxo store in Tijuana, Baja California, with everything and in uniform, and pulled a picaresque grimace when the customer asked for condoms
His fame soared that he starred in a Burger King commercial and in singer Nibal’s music video for the song “Viaje,” both of which he made his quirky gesture. In addition, several children tried to imitate him on networks and shared their videos, but little by little his fame began to wane.
Recently, a young man from Colombia shared a live video on TikTok in which he sends greetings and makes the same gesture as the boy from the Oxxo, which is why other networks like Twitter started spreading it and pointing out that it was the same Elías, who was already grown.
However, the real Elías has two active accounts on social networks, one on TikTok, where in August 2022 he published his latest videos promoting some articles for gamers, showing that an installation to stream video games has been set up.
The other is on Instagram, where he shared a photo in February 2023 where he already looks taller and has a new hairstyle in his hair.
It is worth remembering that the same Oxxo store did not do this, although other brands took advantage of Elías’ fame to promote themselves, since they had even forbidden him to record any more videos on their premises.
Speaking on Gusgri’s podcast, the then 12-year-old boy said that many people had complained to the company that a minor was working, so they had to issue a statement to report that he was the son of a worker with no employment relationship him.
Then came a ban: “We can go in to buy, but not to record.” We can no longer record in an oxxo,” said Elías.
