An overweight cat living on the streets of Szczecin, northwest Poland, briefly became one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions, even earning a perfect five-star rating on Google Maps.
The black and white tomcat named Gacek – the Polish term for bat – has become the star of the city of Szczecin, which has around 400,000 inhabitants. The cat who, according to a report by local media “wSzczecinie”, dedicated to him a few years ago, saw his fame explode.
However, the cat’s popularity has made headlines in multiple media outlets in recent days, as netizens noticed its perfect rating as a tourist attraction, with more than 2,500 positive reviews on Google Maps.
The only downside, the cat got a single star in 2022 because he “stole a sausage”.
However, for mysterious reasons, the file dedicated to Gacek was deleted.
During his brief tenure at the top of Poland’s tourist charts, Gacek topped his city’s other attractions, including the Ducal Castle of Szczecin, built in 1346, The Insider noted.
The animal has been living in a wooden box on Kaszubuska Street for ten years. The latter often receives snacks from passers-by.
Because the box was near a store, the staff decided to act as the cat’s protector and put up a sign asking them to leave edible offerings in sealed containers.
