A tattoo parlor in London is offering free removal of Kanye West tattoos as the artist continues to openly promote anti-Semitism and praise Adolf Hitler.
NAAMA, a London-based tattoo removal studio, announced in an Instagram post on November 15 that it would be offering free tattoo removal. which prompted companies like Adidas and Balenciaga to end their partnerships with the rapper and designer. The comments followed West’s years of public lurch to the right, including praising Donald Trump, a longtime obsession of Hitler’s, and calling slavery an “choice” in interviews.
The Kanye West tattoo removal initiative has received “worldwide interest and response,” NAAMA CEO Briony Garbett said in an email to CNN.
“It seems there are a few former fans who regret tattoos,” he added.
To date, three clients have already started laser removal of their Kanye West tattoos and 10 others have booked consultations. The process involves using intense pulses of light to break up the tattoo ink, which is eventually removed by the immune system, according to NAAMA’s website.
“If you have a tattoo inspired by someone you admire and they’re making headlines for the wrong reasons, it’s not exactly something you want to wear on your sleeve that you are or have been a fan,” said Garbett. “With that in mind, we wanted to come to the rescue of those who are ashamed of their Kanye West-inspired tattoos and are offering a free treatment to any UK fans who wish to have them removed.”
One of the clients the studio is currently treating faced social media trolling over her Kanye West-inspired tattoo, according to Garbett.
The Kanye West initiative grew out of the studio’s existing Second Chances project, which offers free laser tattoo removal for clients with gang tattoos, hate symbols, or other traumatic or triggering tattoos.
“We understand that tattoos can be triggering for some people and not everyone can afford to have their tattoos removed,” Garbett said.
The treatment would typically cost around £2,000 or $2,456 depending on the size of the tattoo and the number of treatments required.
West has continued to make anti-Semitic comments even as companies have dropped their partnerships with the disgraced musician. On Tuesday, West appeared on Alex Jones’ show, where he continued to praise Hitler and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
