Briton Thomas Pidcock won the last cross-country event in Olympic format at the Mountain Bike World Cup in Mont-Sainte-Anne on Sunday.
He completed the stage in 1:26:27 hours, 26 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, the Swiss Mathias Flückiger. Marcel Guerrini completed the podium.

As for Canadians competing in the event, Alma native Léandre Bouchard placed 16th with a time of 1 hour, 30 minutes and 50 seconds. Gunnar Holmgren finished 21st. He completed the stage in 1 hour, 31 minutes and 36 seconds.
Frenchman Jordan Sarrou can only blame himself. Although he had the chance to win the overall classification, he ended up in ninth place. In the end, it was Switzerland’s Nino Schurter who received this honor for the ninth time in his career, despite being in 14th place.
Sarrou thus took second place in the overall ranking ahead of Mathias Flückiger.
Holmgren is the highest-ranked Canadian at No. 27.
Puck Pieterse triumphs among the women
The Dutchman Puck Pieterse, who was sure to win the overall women’s ranking, still delivered a good race and took third place in the Laurentians.
However, what particularly stood out was the performance of the Frenchwoman Loana Lecomte, who dominated this final stage. She took first place with a lead of 15 seconds over Jenny Rissveds, her nearest pursuer, and 1 minute and 03 seconds ahead of Pieterse. The first city didn’t necessarily have it easy and had to expect a puncture on the rear wheel.
Quebec’s Laurie Arsenault finished 24th with a time of 1:37:36. The latter took 56th place overall.
