Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller join the Sharks organization

The San Jose Sharks announced several new additions Friday, including former stars Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller.

Vanek will serve as an amateur scout in the Minnesota area.

Miller, on the other hand, will be a scout focused on goalies. He will also oversee goaltender development within the organization by working alongside Evgeni Nabokov, the Sharks’ director of goaltenders.

Igor Eronko will be the Sharks’ scout in Russia. The former journalist was deputy director general at Avangard Omsk in the KHL.

Jack Anderson will become a fitness assistant, while Jaren Burke will be transferred to Ontario as a scout.

Vanek, 39, played his final NHL season in 2018-19 with the Detroit Red Wings. A prolific forward, the Austrian has 789 total points, including 373 goals, in 1,029 National League games with the Buffalo Sabers, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota Wild, Florida, Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Red Wings.

Miller, 43, won the 2009–2010 Vézina Trophy, awarded to the league’s top goaltender. The American has a 391-289-88 record, a .914 save percentage and a 2.64 clean sheet average in 796 NHL games with the Sabers, St. Louis Blues, Canucks and Anaheim Ducks.
