RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — Friday was just the first night of a traffic jam near PNC Arena.
The second night of the State Fair coincided with a Travis Scott concert.
The same thing was supposed to happen on Saturday, but PNC Arena announced that Travis Scott’s show on Saturday night has been postponed.
No reason was given, but PNC said fans should hold on to their tickets because they will be honored for the new date, which has yet to be announced.
“I accidentally turned into the fair parking lot, but after that everything was fine,” said Dylan Coulillard, who drove to the concert from Clayton.
Lines snaked around the front of the arena as thousands waited for the doors to open.
Kas Rosen and Patrick Byrne came to the show from Richmond. When they arrived in Raleigh, they soon discovered that it wasn’t just the concert that was taking place.
“We saw the Ferris wheel on the ride,” Kas said. “The traffic after that will be terrible, but we’ll deal with it.”
Traffic crawled along Hillsborough Street, where the Ferris wheel was clearly visible. Traffic on Blue Ridge Road was the same.
To ease some of the congestion in West Raleigh, the Department of Transportation has opened full access in each direction of Hillsborough Street from I-440 to the new Blue Ridge Connector. I-440 at the junction with Wade Avenue is also different, so the DOT urges people to follow the new signs and instructions from law enforcement.
If you’re heading to the trade fair on Saturday, there are several park-and-ride shuttles to choose from.
“It was a little hike, but it was OK,” said Deanna Bradshaw, who drove to the fair from Burlington with her cousin. “Traffic was congested, but we made it.”
