Mark Zuckerberg announced that Threads is implementing a new edit button. This new feature allows you to edit your post as many times as you like within five minutes of publishing.
Good news for Threads users: Meta is trying to give the application a little more functionality in an attempt to convince X users to abandon Elon Musk’s social network. One of the new features is an edit button. This eliminates the need for users to republish a new post if they want to correct an error.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, adds these users has up to five minutes to edit a post. To highlight this delay, the app displays a countdown timer over an editable message.

Threads wants to be the free alternative to X
Although the five-minute window is narrower than competitor X’s (Twitter) one-hour window, it is also available for free, unlike Elon Musk’s own social media platform. To the latter Editing tweets is reserved for X Premium, which costs just under 10 euros per month.
The problem is that threads don’t show message change history. This affects transparency, especially if someone significantly changes the content of a post that is quickly gaining popularity.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also noted that Threads added the ability to publish voice clips. These offer a “karaoke transcription”. We also know that Threads is working on a new “Trending” category where we can find all trending topics.
Overall, this is a big win for Threads and a great incentive for new users to join the platform and for existing users to become more active. The team seems to be listening to users’ feedback and slowly but surely providing them with the features they want. While the application quickly surpassed 100 million users in just four days, its popularity also quickly declined. New functions are therefore intended to increase user engagement.
