Threatening situation near Paris: Palace of Versailles evacuated

The palace and gardens outside of Paris are clean. The second time in a few days. A bomb squad is deployed.

The Palace of Versailles on the outskirts of Paris was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon, just days after a bomb scare prompted an evacuation over the weekend.

The popular tourist attraction said in a post on X that it would remain closed today for “safety reasons.”

The evacuation was triggered by a bomb alarm and bomb disposal teams were on the way, broadcaster BFM TV reported, citing police.

Both Versailles and the Louvre Museum were evacuated on Saturday due to security warnings. France raised its security alert level to the highest level after a teacher was fatally stabbed last week. The attack may be due to the war between Israel and Hamas, officials said. (APA/Portal/Bloomberg)
