According to information obtained at the scene, in light of the disturbing comments, the police actually directed their searches to the Drummond Motel and set up a preventative security perimeter at the location where the person concerned may have been, the spokesperson confirms.
As Vingt55 learned on site, the police operation was mainly preventive in nature and aimed at preventing a suspect from possibly escaping. The threats were credible enough to require immediate police intervention at the Motel Drummond Hotel, confirms Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, in an interview with Vingt55.
As Vingt55 discovered on site, around ten customers had to be evacuated preventatively from neighboring rooms to the room where the affected person could have been. After the rooms were cleared, a person was intercepted and arrested during identification and then released because he was not connected to the ongoing investigation, the spokesman confirmed.
The investigation is still ongoing, the spokesman said following the intervention at the Drummond Motel. The police were unable to locate the person(s) they were looking for. “We are still in the process of validating the information received,” adds the spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). The spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec confirms that no one was injured or even threatened on site. The spokesman states that this deployment is only preventative and safety-related.
The police dog handler and his buddy were sent to the site to secure the site and ensure no one was hiding in any of the rooms targeted by the search.
After the intervention and the checks, the police stopped and increased the cordon. All guests were able to return to their rooms. The investigation and validation of the information is continuing, says the spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec. Top form
