In a serious traffic accident on Ennstal Straße (B320) in Styria, near Schladming (Liezen district), three people died on Monday just before 7am, another two were seriously injured. According to police, a 42-year-old woman from Vienna entered the opposite lane with her van on the Schladming bypass and collided head-on with a car from Vorarlberg. Two occupants of the rammed vehicle survived and two died.

The 27-year-old driver was traveling with his 20-year-old girlfriend and her 50-year-old parents. According to the Fire Department, four people were trapped in the wreckage after the accident. They had to be freed and rescued. Both women from Vorarlberg succumbed to injuries at the scene of the accident, as did the woman from Vienna. Both men survived with serious injuries. The 27-year-old man was taken to Schwarzach hospital, the 50-year-old man to the local hospital in Schladming. Initially, it was unclear why the 42-year-old driver veered into the opposite lane.

The Viennese’s two dogs should have survived the accident unharmed. They were placed in the care of an animal shelter. Ennstal Strasse was completely closed during the operation.
