The National Police have arrested three people for disturbing public order when they gave false bomb warnings and caused the evacuation of a health center in Alicante, a charity building in Castelló and a rescue bus in Valencia. The perpetrators were located and arrested for allegedly committing a crime of public disorder by disrupting the normal and orderly functioning of social order, the National Police reported in a statement.

Last week, on October 18, police evacuated the Faculty of Telecommunications at the Polytechnic University of Valencia due to a false bomb warning. There have been numerous hoaxes on social media about the planting of bombs and the presence of suspected armed terrorists, coinciding with the escalation of the war between Israel and Hamas.

The Alicante incident occurred in June at a health center that received several calls from a hidden number in which a man warned of the impending explosion of a device in its facilities. Given the possibility that the threat was real and that the lives or physical integrity of the people in the health center were in danger, the center coordinator decided to evacuate the health center and alert the emergency services.

The existing security protocol was activated and National Police agents assigned to the Citizen Security Brigade of the Alicante Provincial Police, the Canine Handler Unit with dogs specialized in detecting explosives, and TEDAX explosive deactivation technicians, set up security cordons and conducted a search of the building .

Police launched an investigation that made it possible to identify and locate the perpetrator of the false bomb warning, a 29-year-old man of Spanish nationality, who was arrested.

Similar events occurred in Castelló, in this case when a man left a package in front of a charity building and declared that it was explosives. Police have not determined the date the event occurred. A witness reported this situation to the Castellón Provincial Police Station, which set up a protective structure in the area, stopped traffic and evacuated the nearby building. Several witnesses described to the evicted officers the physical characteristics and clothing of the man who had deposited the police package at the location.

Following the inspection of the suspected parcel bomb, the determination that it was not an explosive and a search of the surrounding area, a 51-year-old person of Spanish nationality was arrested for the alleged commission of a public order crime.

Last week, another similar case occurred in Valencia when a person used a digital platform to threaten to detonate a bomb on an EMT bus in the city. Traffic on the affected route was suspended and passengers were evacuated until appropriate security checks were carried out by officials, who determined it was a false alarm.

After a quick investigation, the perpetrator, 19 years old and of Spanish nationality, was arrested the next day in Valencia and handed over to the judicial authorities because he was held responsible for a public order crime.

The State Police reports that carrying out such actions can endanger the physical integrity of people present in the locations indicated in the false bomb warnings, and that committing a public order crime can result in a sentence of up to 30 years to three years in prison.
