This is the second shooting near a school in Williamsburg in the last three days.

Around 3pm Monday, two teenagers were injured in a shooting that police said stemmed from an after-school brawl, according to WABC.

Police said an 18-year-old boy was grazed near the head by a bullet on Maujer Street, less than a mile north of Williamsburg Charter High School, and a 17-year-old girl was shot in the abdomen.

The shooting happened near a campus on Bushwick Avenue that is home to three different high schools — Progress High School, East Williamsburg Scholars Academy and the High School for Enterprise Business and Technology.

A spokesman for the NYPD told that no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.

Neighbor Keyshia Srmemore told the channel that when teenagers come into the apartment complex, they act like they own the apartment.

“They fight, they smoke, I told school security they smoke here – now they will be shot? They will be on the roof.”

Police did not say what caused the fight or who was in possession of a gun.

In mid-January, two teenagers were shot dead by a 13-year-old outside a Queens high school.

The shooting was the result of a fight that had spiraled out of control, according to PIX11 News.

The shooter – who could not be identified due to his age – was charged with four counts of assault, two counts of negligent endangerment and two counts of criminal weapon possession.

The two victims – a boy and a girl – were taken to a local hospital with injuries to their right leg and ankle respectively. Police recorded her in stable condition.

At the time of this shooting, the city’s Department of Education released a statement.

“Our schools are safe havens for our children and there is no higher priority than their safety and well-being,” they said.

“Following a non-school related shooting that occurred after school and off campus, two injured students returned to the school where our outstanding principals, school counselors and NYPD school safety agents provided essential and immediate support and assistance.”

Police previously said shootings involving young people rose sharply in 2022.
