The confrontation occurred on May 19 at McDonald’s at 2606 US-92 East in Lakeland, Florida. During a news conference streamed on Facebook, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd explained that Jones ordered her food online and intended to pick it up at the drive-through window.
She had ordered a happy meal, a chocolate shake, a filet-o-fish sandwich, sweet tea, and a sprite. Judd said McDonald’s “mixed up some things with the order,” and a worker asked Jones to drive to the third window while they fixed it for them. Instead, Jones parked and went into the restaurant.
Judd described Jones as “McMad” for her wrong meal order. He said the workers offered Jones a refund, according to the 10-minute 911 call released by WFLA-TV on YouTube.
The exchange took about 10 minutes. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office released about 2 minutes of surveillance footage from the McDonald’s restaurant. The video has no audio, so it’s unclear what Jones said to staff before calling 911.
2. Jones was recorded knocking bottles and cups on the floor; She repeatedly stressed in the 911 that she had not touched anyone

Surveillance video shows Jones standing at the counter talking to a McDonald’s employee. About a minute into the video, she begins pushing items off the counter with her left hand. The items included a plastic sign and several bottles, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.
Jones then goes behind the counter and throws cups on the floor. Another woman, identified by the sheriff as Jones’ sister, approaches and tries to get Jones to stop. Jones resists her sister’s attempts to persuade her to leave.
According to Sheriff Judd, Jones hit some of the workers with the items when she threw things. He said the footage was not included in the 2-minute video the department released on YouTube.
During the 911 call, Jones is heard exclaiming several times, “I didn’t lay hands on anyone!”
3. Jones called 911 to report that McDonald’s was trying to “cheat” her out of her money.
During the 911 call, Jones claims she waited at least 15 minutes for her meal order to be resolved. She is also heard saying the meal was worth about $25.
She is heard telling the dispatcher, “I’m at McDonald’s. I am five months pregnant. These people don’t know how to run a damn McDonald’s. i want my money They tried to cheat me out of my money. I want my money!”
The dispatcher tells Jones that officers are on their way. The dispatcher also asks Jones for her name at least three times. After Jones dialed 911, she stayed on the phone for about 10 minutes and you can hear the call in its entirety here.
Judd commented on the episode: “I don’t know what happened to her that night. I don’t know if she was missing two fries with a Happy Meal, or maybe she was missing a Happy Meal entirely, but she invented a McMess and acted like a McNut. But do you know what she ended up with? A McBurglar.”
4. She bared her stomach and twerked before exiting McDonald’s
The 911 call captured portions of the conversation between Jones, her sister, and at least one McDonald’s employee. Jones’ pregnancy is discussed. Someone recommends that she go to the hospital because of the stress of the situation, but it’s unclear exactly what Jones said in response because multiple voices are mixed up.
Before exiting the restaurant, surveillance video shows Jones lifting her shirt to reveal her pregnant belly. She then turns her back on the counter and twerks.
The Polk County Sheriff said Jones’ mother was in the parking lot and that both Jones’ mother and sister were “shamed” of what happened.
Judd added: “I want to say to Tianis that if she goes to jail, we won’t have McDonald’s. It’s correct. And we will not give her golden bows. But we give her a pair of silver handcuffs. And then when she eats, there are no wonderful chocolate milkshakes, no sweet tea, and no sprite.”
5. Jones faces multiple felonies including burglary and abuse of the 911 system
According to Polk County inmate records, Jones was arrested the next day. She spent two days behind bars before being released on bail on Sunday May 22.
Jones faces the following charges:
- Burglary with robbery/battery
- Criminal Mischief ($200 or less)
- Misconduct
- Abuse of the 911 system
Polk County public records show that Jones has had dealings with law enforcement at least twice since she was 18. She was previously charged with misdemeanor driving without a valid driver’s license and failing to appear in court. The sheriff also referred to these incidents during the press conference.
