Tiger Woods: “Game Time Decision” on whether to play Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods arrived at Augusta National on Sunday and headed to the practice track at 3:20 p.m. ET — but it’s not yet known if he will compete in the Masters.

After a week of breathless speculation, Woods posted on social media Sunday morning that he is traveling to Augusta and that it will be a “game decision on whether I will compete.”

In the same tweet, Woods also congratulated Anna Davis on Saturday’s win at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and wished the participants in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship the best of luck.

Woods spent 20 minutes warming up and was carted off to the golf course for an apparent practice round. The course closed to the public and media at 1:30pm so it is not known how many holes he played. He’s on the pre-tournament interview schedule at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Woods’ status for the first major of the year has been an open question since he played an 18-hole practice round with son Charlie and Justin Thomas earlier this week. Woods has not played since sustaining serious injuries to his right leg in a car accident in February 2021.

His last official event was the 2020 Masters when the event was pushed back to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
