Tiger Woods fans will be pleased to know that he has become the owner and first player of a team on the TGL, the new PGA-affiliated tour he founded with Rory McIlroy.
On Tuesday, the semi-virtual league, which will launch in January 2024, announced the arrival of its sixth and final practice, Jupiter Link Golf Club. 15 major title holder and businessman David Blitzer is the owner of the Florida-based team.

“Having the opportunity to compete but also owning a team that represents Jupiter is an exciting next chapter for me,” Woods said in a press release. I expect Jupiter Links GC to represent my hometown golf culture as we compete against the best players in the world.”
The TGL teams will consist of three golfers. They will compete in a 15-game season, followed by semi-finals and a final. Athletes use simulators to hit their tee shots and approach shots, but hit real balls whenever they are near the green.
Woods was the victim of a serious traffic accident in February 2021 and suffered numerous injuries throughout his long career. Due to his difficulty walking long distances, he has competed in very few tournaments since then. The PGA prevents its players from using a cart during its events.
The last event “the Tiger” took part in was the Masters tournament last April. He was eliminated after the third round and then had to undergo surgery on his right ankle because he had suffered arthritis as a result of his car accident.
Last week, Woods served as a caddy for his son Charlie during the National Junior Golf Championship, completing all 54 holes of the competition.
A return to the green could come for the former world number 1 at the PNC Championship, in which he and his son have competed together since 2021. The use of a cart is permitted.
