Tilman Fertitta Takes Part in Commanders Franchise Bid: Report

FOX Business’ Charlie Gasparino shares details on the sale of the Washington Commanders soccer team, Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post and the battle for the debt ceiling.

According to the Washington Post, Tilman Fertitta is said to have joined the bidding for the Washington Commanders.

Fertitta is the billionaire executive director and owner and CEO of Fertitta Entertainment, which owns the NBA’s Houston Rockets, restaurant and hospitality company Landry’s, and the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos.

According to Forbes, he has an estimated net worth of $8.1 billion.

Fertitta joins a group of potential buyers that includes Josh Harris, owner of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post.

According to a person with knowledge of the deliberations,

Fertitta has reportedly made an offer for the Commanders, but is not believed to be a frontrunner in buying the franchise from Daniel Snyder.

Fertitta’s bid is valued at just over $5.5 billion.

Snyder is reportedly asking $6 billion for the team.

Bezos is said to be in pole position to buy the team, FOX Business reported this week.

Bezos is said to be interested in buying the team, according to people familiar with his mindset, and has hired investment bankers Allen & Company to review a possible offer, according to the newspaper.

Harris was co-founder of Apollo Global Management and is General Partner of the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace. He is a Limited Partner with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL.

Harris has an estimated net worth of $6.2 billion, according to Forbes.
