Timberwolves will have a players-only meetup, sources say

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves held a players-only meet Wednesday, a day after a crucial loss in Game 5 to the Memphis Grizzlies to go down 2-3 in the opening series, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The players gathered after a team film session led by head coach Chris Finch, sources said.

The players watched additional films among themselves, challenged each other to play with urgency and in the right way, and emphasized the importance of moving the ball, sources said.

The Timberwolves left the practice facility on Wednesday believing they can win back-to-back games, a player told Yahoo Sports.

Finch told reporters Thursday that there was too much hero ball in Game 5, which he says contributed to a stagnant and predictable offense.

Anthony Edwards took the blame for the lack of ball movement, saying he needed to swing the ball early so teammates could make a move with enough time on the shot clock.

Game 6 takes place in Minnesota on Friday.

The Grizzlies will be without center Steven Adams, who was included in health and safety protocols Thursday.
