Some 25 years after the release of the film Titanic, Kate Winslet has spoken openly about the many snide comments she received about her weight at the time. “Apparently I was too fat. Isn’t that terrible? Why were people so mean? They were so mean … I wasn’t even fat,” she told the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Rose DeWitt Bukater’s interpreter claims people made fun of her weight a lot in connection with the famous scene in which she floats on a doorway after the boat sinks. According to her, her companion Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, couldn’t get on the makeshift raft because she was too big.

“I would have liked to say, ‘Don’t you dare treat me like that. i am a young woman My body is changing. I’m trying to understand. I live with insecurities. I’m scared. Don’t make it harder than it already is. That’s bullying,” she continued.
The scene where Jack dies of hypothermia has sparked passions since the film’s release in 1997. Could the couple have entered the floating door together? In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, director James Cameron said he conducted a scientific experiment to prove that only one of the two characters on the object could survive. This will be presented during a special to be aired in February, the director adds.
