To celebrate the 26th anniversary of this classic: previously unseen images from the filming of Titanic revealed – Le Journal de Québec

A dozen never-before-seen photos taken by a film set employee Titanicpublished in 1997, were unveiled and will be auctioned in November.

The images posted online Thursday by People Magazine, until recently the property of a British collector, give us another behind-the-scenes look at this 1996 cult film shot in Mexico. You can see the young Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet enjoying a short break between scenes or when they chat with director James Cameron.

“The great thing about these photos is that they were clearly taken by someone on set with their own camera,” says Andrew Aldridge of Henry Aldridge&Son, the company responsible for auctioning the photos. “These are not professional photos, but pleasure photos,” adds the one, who expects the twelve photos to cost around $2,500.

This collection also includes photographs of the scaffolding that held the liner in place during production.

“The similarity between the boat mounted on the scaffolding and the one from 1911 is striking,” notes Mr. Aldridge.

In fact, according to a 2016 article on the National Public Radio website, the size of the ship built for the 1997 film was about 90 percent the size of the original.
