To hell with the defense of the Jays and Orioles

The Toronto Blue Jays were having a good run but were brutally brought down to earth by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night when they were defeated 11-6 at Camden Yards.

The two sides netted 32 times from the safe together, but it was the home favorites who benefited the most. They brutally beat starting pitcher Chris Bassitt (7-5) and scored six runs in the third inning. After three shots it was 8:1.

The Orioles pulled out all the stops. Adam Frazier, Ryan O’Hearn, Aaron Hicks and Gunnar Henderson – the latter wanting a grand slam – hit a home run.

The game’s ending was more compelling for the Jays, but the awakening came too late. Designated hitter Alejandro Kirk limited the damage with three RBIs.

That game marked the return of receiver Danny Jansen, whose name was left off the injured list for a period of 10 days. The 28-year-old athlete suffered from a left groin strain.

He was fielded as an eighth batter by manager John Schneider and was suspended on five shots. Jansen couldn’t find his rhythm and was eliminated four times.

In addition, infielder Brandon Belt was placed on the 10-day injured list due to an infection in the back of his left thigh. Gunner Adam Cimber is now missing from the team because he has become a father.

The Blue Jays (37-31) and Orioles (42-24) will meet twice more through Thursday.

The Big Apple to the Yankees

Before taking on archrivals the Boston Red Sox in a second series of three games in ten days, the Yankees are at Citi Field for a two-game battle with the Mets. The Bronx Bombers won that first round of the New York duel 7 to 6.

That win was important for the Yankees (39-29), who have the Blue Jays breathing down their necks in the American League’s Eastern Division standings.

Josh Donaldson ended a 6-6 draw with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. As a deficit, the Yankees made a five-point advance in the fourth round.

Six substitutes shared the work after Luis Severino’s action in the fourth period. Ron Marinaccio (3-3) added the win to his record.
