The sustained episode of freezing rain in southwestern Quebec caused extensive damage. Images of trees fallen on power lines are multiplying on social networks.

On the other side of the field, trees fell on cars.

In Laval, a fence near Florent Park has completely collapsed under the weight of the ice.

A motorist recorded a fallen tree with a dashcam in Montreal.

Videos posted to TVANouvelles.ca by netizens also show Hydro-Québec’s transformers exploding.

In Sainte-Thérèse on Montreal’s North Shore, several neighborhoods were left without power. During the night, a citizen took pictures of the area.

In Outaouais, the number of customers without electricity runs into the thousands.

There are hundreds of broken tree branches across the island of Montreal.

This is the region with the most failures.

Received by TVA Nouvelles in the morning, a couple explain how they were woken up by a tree falling down in front of their entrance.

“We sat quietly, then we heard a big crack. We came forward to check, then the branches had indeed fallen,” he said.

The stairs in several apartment buildings have also become impassable.
