Wordle 718 2/6*
🟨🟨🟨⬜🟨 GARBAGE
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 HATER
I could go in so many different directions with this Wordle review. Here we have two words that my generation – Gen Z – has taken to the point of overuse. On the Internet, it’s hard to avoid describing almost every sub-par situation with “I’m trash” or “He is/she is/they are trash.” Aside from having many uses, it’s a great Wordle word. However, had I bothered to search the archives during the solution, I would have found that TRASH was the winning word on April 29, 2022. Oh well. We can still look forward to CRASH.
My reflections led me to ask our Wordle editor, Tracy Bennett: As Wordle winners, when will we be repeating previously used solutions? She said we have enough unique five-letter words to last for years to come. After that, we may need to break down the previously used word list. What a concept! There is a finite number of five-letter words. It often doesn’t feel like that when I’m playing the game.
Even though TRASH couldn’t be the solution, it helped me line up my letters well enough to guess HATER – a lucky move. I’m glad HATER won today. It’s less obscure than other Wordle words I’ve played. It’s simple and its consonants are common, but it’s unexpected enough to elicit a laugh.
Today’s word is HATER, a noun. According to Merriam-Webster, it denotes a person who hates someone or something.
Today’s statistics
Today’s word is Moderately challenging due to the uncertainty. The word shares a common letter pattern with five or six possible answers and is a more modern word that solvers might not think of. Finding the word in six trials requires strategic decisions on each trial.

María Medem is an illustrator, comics and zine writer based in Seville, Spain. Ms. Medem is interested in creating atmospheres and landscapes that seem a little unreal, bending reality until it seems dreamy or evokes a sense of alienation. Because of her comic work, she tends to hide a narrative in each drawing. Ms. Medem draws inspiration from films, books and music – especially flamenco and its powerful lyrics – as well as what happens around her on walks with her extremely elegant greyhound, Blanquita.
