The cause of death of a father and his two-year-old son was released nine months after they were found at their apartment in Geneva, New York.
The bodies of David Conde Sr., 59, and his son, David Conde Jr., were discovered in an apartment on Hamilton Street on Feb. 15, 2022, according to a press release from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
When they found them, investigators told reporters they could not find an obvious cause of death and there were no visible signs of trauma on their bodies.
On Monday, lawmakers announced that Conde Sr. died of natural causes due to a cardiovascular condition.
His son died of starvation some time later, MPs said.

According to the press release, “It is believed that Mr. Conde died first and the child was unable to obtain nourishment after the death of his father.”
When the bodies were found, MPs told reporters they were contacted to visit the home for a social check after there was no sign of the father and son for about a week.

The Democrat and Chronicle reported that investigators said Conde Sr. gained custody of the two-year-old shortly after he was born.
According to the publication, Lt. Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione said the mother appeared to have had no contact with the child.
The investigation into her death has officially been closed, MPs said on Monday.
Conde Jr.’s obituary describes him as “a beautiful little boy with loose curls who had a determined smile and a sweet demeanor.”
It is also noted that after multiple surgeries and months of plaster casts and rehabilitation, he had recently learned to walk despite his health condition at birth.
A memorial service for Conde Jr. was held at the Covert Funeral Home in Ovid on March 16, 2022.
He was survived by his mother, Michelle Travers, and her Newark partner, Marshall Watson.
The two-year-old also had six brothers, Caden, Rickey, Ryan, Justin, Julian and Kayshaun; as well as a sister, Kiera.
