With Tom Brady on the verge of a freelance deal or retirement, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is once again being linked with the Miami Dolphins.
An inside source told Pro Football Talk that such a move is “definitely on the table.”
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa remains on concussion record for the second time this season ahead of Sunday’s playoff game in Buffalo, leading to speculation that Miami could be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason.
That was the case a year ago after Tagovailoa’s disappointing 2021 season, when the Dolphins played for Brady and then-New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton. However, those plans were thwarted when former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores filed an antidiscrimination lawsuit against the team and league, sparking an NFL investigation that revealed improper contact between Miami’s front office, the quarterback and the coach.

As a result, the Dolphins’ owner Stephen Ross was suspended for tampering, the NFL fined the team $1.5 million, and the club was docked for the first and third rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft.
The 45-year-old estranged woman owns a multimillion-dollar estate in South Florida, but Miami’s plans for Tagovailoa remain unclear.
On the one hand, the southpaw had a career year in which he threw for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.
But the 24-year-old Alabama player has had a series of concussion fears, leading many to question whether he has a long-term future in the NFL.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, for example, said his concussion history was troubling enough and his 6-foot-1 frame could expose him to further injury.
“This is serious business,” Smith said Thursday. “And considering how small he is in combination with his small size compared to the football players on the field who are hitting him with their bodies and causing him this collision… and the fact that he’s in this situation right now, that is serious.’
Tagovailoa is due $4.7 million in 2023, which is the final year of his rookie deal. The team could afford to keep him as a backup for Brady, but there would also be a trade market for the young quarterback if they went for the former Patriots and Buccaneers star.
Brady, meanwhile, has his own playoff game against the visiting Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. His 8-9 Buccaneers have home field advantage for the game thanks to their NFC South title, but this is his first losing season in his illustrious career and a retirement or interstate move could appeal to the 45-year-old.
