Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible’ 7 Set to Set Franchise Record

Top Gun: Maverick star Jay Ellis told Fox New Digital that Tom Cruise reminded the cast “daily” that they were “doing something special” together.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” could turn out to be the best opening of the series.

According to , the seventh installment in the franchise is expected to gross $90 million domestically in its first five days when it opens in July.

Cruise is overseas for the upcoming Paramount and Skydance film premieres in London and Rome.

Cruise – who reprises his role as Ethan Hunt in the action film – also teamed up with Paramount and Skydance on the smash hit Top Gun: Maverick. According to the broadcaster, the film grossed $1.5 billion at the box office worldwide in 2022.

When it comes to movies in the action franchise, 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout has the top-grossing three-day weekend premiere at $61.2 million, according to the outlet. Right behind it is Mission: Impossible II from 2000 with $57.8 million.

The upcoming films have been split into two parts, with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two expected to hit theaters on June 28, 2024.

Cruise recently revealed what went through his mind when he decided to shoot the most dangerous scene in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One first.

In a recent interview, the daredevil said he wanted to make sure the filming wouldn’t have been wasted if he hadn’t successfully completed the stunt and injured himself in the process.

In the scene, Cruise rides a motorcycle straight off a cliff before deploying a parachute that takes him to safety.

“Well, we know, we either go ahead with the film or we don’t — let us know on day one!” Cruise recently told Entertainment Tonight. “Let us know what’s going to happen on day one: are we all moving forward or is it a major rewrite?”

Cruise, 60, shared that he put his full focus on completing the stunt, which required not only mental clarity but also physical correctness.

“I was training and I was ready,” Cruise told the outlet. “You have to be razor sharp when you do something like that.”

He continued, “While we were preparing the film, it was very important that it was actually the first. I don’t want to give that up and do other things and have my mind elsewhere.”

The ‘Top Gun’ star stressed the importance of not only his mental toughness but that of the rest of the cast, saying: “Everybody was prepared – let’s just get it done.”
