Tomas Tatar is happy about “a new beginning”

After an unsuccessful time with the Colorado Avalanche, Tomas Tatar started the new chapter of his career with the Seattle Kraken on the right foot.

On Monday night, the striker scored a goal and an assist in a 3-4 overtime loss to the Stars in Dallas. These were his first points for the 32nd team in the National League.

The 33-year-old veteran played a second game with the team, playing in the front row alongside Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle.

“It's a great new beginning for me. I am very excited about this opportunity. I hope I can play the way I know how to play,” Tatar told the Seattle Times after being subbed off by the Avalanche.

The forward traded to the Kraken last Friday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the upcoming draft. He was unable to establish himself in the top 6 of the Avs and was limited to nine points in 27 games with this team.

In Seattle, Tatar will meet Pierre-Édouard Bellemare again. The two men were teammates on the Vegas Golden Knights from 2017 to 2018. According to the Frenchman, the newcomer will integrate well into his new team.

“He’s been in the league forever,” said the striker. […] I think he's a good addition to our locker room. He's a good guy. We don't have a superstar here, we just have a group of good people.

“I know him very well. He is a hard-working guy and I am sure he will be useful to us.”

At the moment, Tatar has not yet experienced the joy of victory with the Kraken. He will try to remedy that situation on Wednesday night when he visits Crypto.com Arena for a matchup against the Los Angeles Kings.
