Tonight in Milan

Alberto Angela is back at Raiuno with “Tonight in Milan”, an evening event that completes the successful series of specials that have already paid homage to the most beautiful Italian cities of art. Starting from the main tower of the Cathedral, just below the Madonnina, Alberto crosses the city at night to discover the more or less hidden treasures of the Lombard capital: from the stage of the Teatro alla Scala to the Basilica of S. Ambrogio, from the Brera Art Gallery to the Library Ambrosiana, repository of Leonardo’s priceless Codex Atlanticus. A journey through art that takes the viewer in front of the Last Supper, but also between the “Seven Heavenly Palaces”, the gigantic installation by Anselm Kiefer kept in the Pirelli Hangar Bicocca, or among the Futurists of the 20th Century Museum History of the city, former capital of the Roman Empire, proud medieval community and with the Visconti and Sforza one of the most glamorous dominions. Along this route are the most representative places of contemporary Milan life, such as the Central Station, the Galleria, the Navigli and the skyscrapers that have reshaped the skyline in recent decades. On his journey, Alberto Angela lets himself be guided by the story of great guests who live in Milan and have a special relationship with this city: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Javier Zanetti joins him for a portrait of the city and the City to draw its development over the years. Giancarlo Giannini, a regular guest in the specials of “Stanotte”, this time plays the great Milanese poet Alessandro Manzoni. Sonia Bergamasco gives voice and face to the poetess of the Navigli, Alda Merini. The solo dancers of the Teatro alla Scala Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko dance on the unusual stage of the scenography workshops in the former Ansaldo factories, Elio with his musicians pays homage to the song by Enzo Jannacci, and Malika Ayane is the star of an intense musical performance in the gallery . Art, music, history and customs intertwine in a nocturnal view of this city of contrasts, characterized by constant renewal and always in the present. Tonight in Milan is a RAI production in 4K directed by Gabriele Cipollitti with photography by Vincenzo Calò. It was written with Fabio Buttarelli, Ilaria Degano, Vito Lamberti, Aldo Piro and Emilio Quinto.
