We are in our 70s in the San Fernando Valley and in our 15th year Gary Valentine (Cooper Hoffman) finishes high school wanting to be an actor. A career that has been underway since his youth. He gets to know each other while taking photos for the school yearbook Alana Kane (Alana Haim), an older girl with whom he develops a strong friendship. To make ends meet, they start a waterbed company with Gary as the owner and Alana as the employee, but business isn't going well so they have to start over. Between an argument and a mishap, the two boys discover that something has changed in their lives too.
