‘Sex can be such a drug’: Tony Adams claims ‘Gameplaying’ intercourse got Caprice addicted – but admits they didn’t form an emotional connection during a brief romance

  • The retired footballer had a brief romance with Caprice, 50, in 2001, three years after his six-year marriage to ex-wife Jane O’Shea broke up
  • But Adams, an integral part of a title-winning Arsenal team at the time, claims their short-lived relationship lacked emotional depth
  • He also claims that his explosive sex with Caprice was the only thing that could have stopped him from breaking up with the American model

Arsenal and England legend Tony Adams has compared sex with American model Caprice Bourret to using drugs, in lines taken from his warts-and-all autobiography.

The retired footballer had a brief romance with portly blonde Caprice, 50, in 2001, three years after the collapse of his six-year marriage to ex-wife Jane O’Shea.

But Adams, 55, at the time an integral part of a title-winning Arsenal team and an established international footballer, claims their short-lived relationship lacked emotional depth.

Addressing the affair in the 2017 memoir Sober: Soccer. My story. My life, he also claims that his explosive sex with Caprice was the only thing that could have stopped him from calling it off.

He wrote: “I don’t think it was purely physical – and there were many who would say I hit above my weight…

“In the end, however, I knew I had to end the relationship due to the lack of emotional connection. It felt like an act that she played a game before and after she met me.’

He added: “The honesty and sincerity I initially saw has been lost behind the facade. I had concerns – and there’s always regret when a relationship ends.

“But I knew it was the right thing to do. Sex can be such a drug and could have kept me in the relationship.”

Caprice has since married British financier Ty Comfort, with whom she raises sons Jett and Jax.

He married Teachers’ whiskey heiress Poppy Teacher in 2012, with whom he has sons Atticus and Hector. The former footballer is also parent to son Oliver and daughter Amber from his first marriage to Shea.

Adams also explained that shortly after meeting his wife, he was stalked by an unnamed woman who started circling his house in her car, leaving him gifts and even buying two Dalmatian dogs, just like him.

In another excerpt from his memoir, he recounted that moment, writing, “Another woman came into my life in an episode I was not very comfortable with.

“Indeed, her behavior was very odd, as you might expect from someone I can only describe as a stalker.

“I suppose if it had been the other way around – a woman being stalked like that by a man – it would have been scary, but it never really scared me, so I probably never did anything about it.

“I didn’t mean to be rude. In a way it was touching and I was even a little flattered. At first.’
