Too early? Workers are seen tearing up the lawn next to Matthew Perry’s backyard hot tub, where he drowned

Less than two weeks after he was found drowned, workers at Matthew Perry’s home were seen rolling back the grass around the hot tub on Thursday.

Perry, 54, was discovered in the hot tub by an assistant on the afternoon of Oct. 28.

The assistant pulled Perry out of the water, but he could not be saved. His cause of death remains unknown pending toxicology reports.

On Thursday, a group of groundskeepers at the actor’s Pacific Palisades home were seen digging up the area around the pool and hot tub.

The team seemed ready to remove the pool – his family may have believed it was too painful a memory to keep. A Batman logo in lights that Perry had placed on the bottom of the pool was also removed.

Perry bought the home on August 18, 2020 for $6 million – selling his downtown Los Angeles penthouse and his beachfront villa in Malibu to move into the smaller “cottage.”

He expanded and renovated the existing pool on the property, transforming it into a stunning infinity pool with views across Los Angeles to the ocean.

The 2,696-square-foot home had four bedrooms and three bathrooms and featured floor-to-ceiling windows that opened to allow for indoor-outdoor living.

It is unclear who will keep the house.

Perry never married and had no children.

He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Morrison, and stepfather, Keith Morrison; his father, John Bennett Perry, 82, and his stepmother, Debbie.

He also has stepsisters and half-sisters: Caitlin, Emily, Will and Madeline Morrison, and Marie Perry.

Perry clearly enjoyed the property – which was relatively modest for such a famous and wealthy star.

In his latest Instagram post, he was relaxing in the hot tub at night with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

The 3,000-square-foot property on Blue Sail Drive was built in 1965 as a modest ranch-style home.

Pictures show it has since undergone a major makeover, with Perry putting his own personal stamp on the sprawling block.

He completely transformed the property, swapping light oak flooring for a darker wood and boho furniture for much bolder colors.

The stunning four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom home sits on a hill overlooking the ocean. Many of the rooms offer panoramic views of the Pacific.

Before it was sold, it was described as embodying the “quintessential Southern California lifestyle,” while Pacific Palisades was home to numerous other celebrities.

Perry’s Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc also owned a mansion in the neighborhood before selling it in 2016.

Perry’s properties were significantly cheaper than his previous real estate holdings.

In 2020, he put his stunning Malibu home on the market for $14.95 million after purchasing it in an off-market deal for $12 million in 2011.

Like his previous beachfront home, his entire home boasts panoramic ocean views, with huge sliding doors making the open floor plan bright and airy.

The home sits on 0.37 acres of grassy gardens, which, as pictures suggest, also includes a fire pit and an elevated pool.

Perry regularly shared pictures from his home, including just two weeks ago with his father, actor John Bennett Perry.

A pool table was also visible right in front of the garden so guests could enjoy the view while playing.

He also shared a snap of a sunny corner of his property as a gardener worked two weeks before his death.

In addition to a spacious lawn, the house appears to have a plot of newly planted trees and other plant beds.

Two covered seating areas are located on either side of the garden overlooking the lawn and pool area, aerial photos show.

The modern concrete infinity pool, an upgrade from the jet pool the home had when Perry bought it, is set into the hillside below the property’s lawn edge.

Perry’s latest post on Instagram, posted earlier this week, shows him relaxing in the pool while looking into the distance.

The caption read: “Oh, such warm water swirling around makes you feel good?” “I’m Mattman,” he said, referring to the caped crusader he’s mentioned regularly in his recent posts.

The Batman fanatic has decorated his entire home with superhero memorabilia, including a bat signal silhouette in laser lights that illuminates the bottom of his swimming pool.

He previously lived in a luxurious penthouse in LA that was decorated with Batman-themed items.

Perry also gave a glimpse into his living area when he recently shared a video of what looked like a home theater.

He pans around the room and spots two plasma televisions and a movie screen, each showing The Batman, while lasers on the ceiling display the DC hero’s emblem.

Perry was said to have loved the sport and usually played twice a day.

His home is near the Riviera Country Club – where he played the tennis-like game with a friend in the hours before his death.
