Paramount Pictures
Warner Bros. Pictures may have secured him a new non-exclusive contract, but Paramount Pictures isn't giving up on Tom Cruise just yet.
Puck News reports that a third Top Gun film is currently in development at Paramount and Top Gun: Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger is currently working on a draft.
The project marks a reunion of Cruise with his “Maverick” co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell, as well as producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison.
Additionally, the outlet states that “Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski will reportedly return as at least a producer and possibly a director.
Cruise is currently filming the eighth and likely final Mission: Impossible for Paramount with Christopher McQuarri and is developing his space film at Universal, directed by Doug Liman.
However, Puck hints that Top Gun could be the Oscar nominee's potential next project. Either way, the fruits of the Warner deal — be it “Edge of Tomorrow 2” or another project — still seem years away at this point.
