Top Gun: Maverick was named Best Picture at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards

Top Gun: Maverick won the grand prize for best picture at AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards on Saturday.

“I’ve produced over 50 films and more than 2,000 hours of television, but there was one question that kept everyone asking themselves: ‘Will there ever be Top Gun again?'” said Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of Maverick. . “After almost four decades, all the pieces came together and we finally released the highly anticipated sequel, just when everyone seemed to need it most.”

Elvis director Baz Luhrmann received the Best Director award from the film’s star, Austin Butler, and the biopic also won the Best Time Capsule category. “The Old Man,” which was renewed for a second season in June 2022, enjoyed similar success at the ceremony, with lead actor Jeff Bridges taking home the award for Best Television Actor.
