Top Republican denies claims he ignores Trump family deals

Jared Kushner is in the real estate industry. Hunter is in the influence trade: top Republican denies claims he is ignoring Trump family business deals while targeting Biden’s son’s ties to China

  • House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer conducted a question and answer session at the National Press Club on Monday
  • He pushed back on the idea that he was ignoring former President Donald Trump’s family’s family business connections while going after the Bidens
  • Comer explained that while Jared Kushner is in the real estate business, it appears that Hunter Biden was in the “influence peddling” business.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Monday dismissed the idea that he was ignoring former President Donald Trump’s family’s family’s foreign dealings while focusing on Hunter Biden’s transactions with China.

“Well, if you look at it [Jared Kushner] – and again I’m not defending him – I know what line of business he was in. He’s in real estate,” Comer said while chairing an event at the National Press Club. “What business is Hunter Biden in? I would argue that it is influence trading and I have a problem with that.

Now that Comer is in charge of the powerful Oversight Committee, Republicans have launched an investigation into President Joe Biden — with Comer declaring that the investigation into the “influence of the influence of the Biden family” and investigations into the classified documents discovered were linked and under the same investigation fell.

“It’s really an investigation,” said Bloomberg Government comer Emily Wilkins. “The reason I’m concerned about the Biden documents is that for some reason China has been donating so much money to the various Biden interests. I don’t think they do it out of the goodness of their hearts.”

Comer explained that the difference between Hunter Biden (left) and Jared Kushner (right) is that he knows Kushner is in real estate, while it appears that President Joe Biden’s son was “influential.”

Comer said he doesn’t think Biden for merely classifying documents is a contestable offense, as committee member Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green has expressed.

“It’s contestable if he used those documents to benefit his family — which there isn’t, no evidence,” Comer said.

“If anyone can bring me evidence that Trump used documents or peddled inside information, we will investigate,” he added.

Comer suggested that he believed Hunter Biden’s stores smelled bad.

The Kentucky Republican has attempted to obtain the reports of Hunter Biden’s suspicious activity, but has so far been denied access by the Treasury Department.

“I’ll say that if they’re not a big deal then why don’t they let us have access to them?”

“Because I can tell you, I would find it very surprising that a bank would file a SAR about the son of the Acting Vice President of the United States unless they were fairly certain that some sort of serious violation had been committed with him Suspect report,” Comer went on.

He also said Republicans had seen some of the reports — and it wasn’t looking good.

“So we’ve seen enough to know there’s a problem there,” Comer said.

Still, Comer Hunter called Biden a “witness” and not under investigation and said the first son won’t be dragged before Congress anytime soon.
