A strong tornado hit the town of Little Rock, Arkansas, this Friday (31st), knocking down several buildings and collapsing walls, uprooting trees, overturning vehicles and injuring hundreds of people, according to press information.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences declared an event with many casualties after a “catastrophic” tornado hit Little Rock on Friday, a broadcaster affiliated with CBS said, adding that hundreds of people were injured.

Aerial photos released by The Weather Channel showed a severely damaged area of ​​the city spanning several blocks, with several homes missing roofs and walls, some collapsing and vehicles overturned in the streets.

Strong winds this Friday (31st) destroyed buildings, tore down trees and overturned cars.

The National Weather Service (NWS) also reported that tornado activity destroyed several homes and downed trees in and around Little Rock.

The tornado hit the Arkansas capital as a huge outbreak of extreme spring weather swept across much of the United States, threatening the central region of the country, from Texas to the Great Lakes, with dangerous thunderstorms and tornadoes.

Tens of millions of Americans in the Great Plains, Midwest, South and East were on alert for various weather hazards Friday afternoon and evening and into the weekend, the NWS said.
