Toronto Airport: Angry Passengers Insult Sunwing

Passengers at the end of the many delays in collecting their luggage at Toronto Pearson Airport – one of the country’s busiest airports – chanted insults to express their anger.

According to a video recently shared on social media, several travelers shouted “F*** you Sunwing” after waiting a long time to collect their bags.

Other people have also complained about long delays boarding their flights or even cancellations, a situation all the more complicated this holiday season.

Airports in Calgary and Edmonton, Alta., were also rocked by repeated cancellations and delays between Sunday and Monday, Global News reported.

At least half of the flights that departed from Calgary on Monday had been delayed or canceled. Arrivals are also affected. At Edmonton Airport, almost half of incoming flights were delayed or cancelled.

Domestic flights, in particular to Winnipeg, Montreal and Victoria, as well as international flights, to the USA or to Cancun are equally affected. Ditto for airlines: WestJet, Air Canada, Sunwing, Swoop and even Flair have had delays and cancellations.

Airports are recovering from the effects of the pandemic, with increasing passenger numbers and ongoing staff shortages.

In addition, extreme cold and wind warnings were issued Monday across much of western and southern Alberta.
