A teenager was shot and injured in a shooting outside a Toronto high school Thursday afternoon.

The Weston Collegiate Institute school in the city’s northwest was detained for a period of about two hours after the incident.
The 15-year-old victim was shot in the chest by a group of men who approached him in a vehicle, according to local media CP24.

“After I was hit [l’adolescent] back to school where he was supported by staff. The victim was later transported to a hospital center where he is currently in intensive care,” detective Ryan Forde said to a press crowd.
As of this writing, the youngster’s condition is still unknown.
School evacuated by police
When the police arrived, the school was immediately evacuated. Several concerned parents came to the scene hoping to find their children while awaiting the release of their detention.

Classes at the school were suspended for the remainder of the day to allow investigators to analyze the scene. It is still unclear whether school operations will resume on Friday.
