Two boys, ages four and five, from an uneventful family were found dead in a Toronto apartment on Sunday, shortly after their mother was seriously injured when she fell from a balcony.
This is another tragedy affecting this family, whose father had just died suddenly, according to an interview with the Toronto Star.
Toronto police responded to a call around 7:30 p.m. Sunday and found the 25-year-old mother on the ground after falling from a balcony of her sixth-floor apartment. Since she is seriously injured, she is expected to survive her fall.
The officers wanted to go to his apartment immediately, but came across a locked door. After forcing them, they found the two brothers without vital signs, Toronto media reported.
There were no marks on their bodies, according to Toronto Police Homicide Unit Assistant Inspector Terry Browne. Her death was unfortunately confirmed in hospital.
According to Inspector Browne, the boys' deaths are being treated as suspicious. Autopsies will be carried out later this week.
“I think it's probably not an accidental fall,” he said of the mother's accident on Monday, according to the Toronto Star. “But it will depend on the information we receive once we are in the unit.”
A shock for the neighbors
Fearing she heard a knock on her door, it was a neighbor who alerted the police.
“It's a shock, you know. “I’m still in shock,” Sherry Moseley told the media.
The neighbor described the children as “beautiful” and assured that their parents were always discreet. His mother tearfully announced her partner's death to him last week.
