Heavy rain over the last few hours caused major problems in Mauricie on Monday.

Forest roads in the Saint-Maurice nature reserve were washed away by rising waters, while tens of millimeters of rain fell on the region.

About fifty people were isolated in the forest sector on the west side of the Saint-Maurice River.

The rising water washed away a bridge in the area, blocking any possibility of reaching an area of about 200 chalets by land.

Authorities are currently conducting a tracking operation to see what options they have to reach isolated citizens.
“We can’t wait to go out, we all have small families,” Félix Murray told TVA Nouvelles.
