Popular Quebec hip-hop artist manager Philippe Nazon was arrested Tuesday for kidnapping and torturing a victim over several days last summer.
Thanks to the issuance of an arrest warrant, officers from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) were able to arrest the 41-year-old man in the Sainte-Foy sector at around 6 p.m.
As part of an investigation launched last June, Philippe Nazon was targeted by authorities as a suspect in a case of kidnapping and torture of a man in his 30s.
The latter was scheduled to appear at the Quebec courthouse on Wednesday. He could be charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment and conspiracy.
“ The investigation continues and there may be further arrests in the coming days,” said SPVQ spokesman Pierre-Olivier Lévesque.
Philippe Nazon is known as the manager of the collectives Facekché – 187 and Nothsiders under the production banner Explicit, before becoming manager of the music group Éloquence. The Journal du Hip Hop named him Manager of the Year in 2017.
